Environmental initiatives

In support of its ISO 14001 environmental management system registration with Bureau Veritas Certification UK Ltd, Chorus Group remains dedicated to maintaining various environmental management and sustainability initiatives to enhance environmental awareness within its workforce and aim to minimise adverse impacts on the environment. These initiatives include:

• Proactively adopting and implementing appropriate BRE sustainability scheme requirements, e.g. BREEAM Offices, BREEAM Ecohomes and BREEAM Bespoke etc to support each of its construction projects (regardless of whether referenced as a client requirement or not)
  
  
• Considering opportunities to work with local communities to enhance environmental sustainability and biodiversity projects and initiatives
  
  
• Looking at ways to monitor and reduce energy consumption within its offices and all construction sites.
  

In support of its OHSAS 18001 health and safety management system registration with Bureau Veritas Certification UK Ltd, Chorus Group remains dedicated to maintaining various health, safety and welfare management controls and initiatives to enhance health and safety awareness within its workforce and all contracted companies that work with the company . These initiatives include:

• Periodically providing all members of staff with comprehensive health, safety and welfare awareness training workshops
  
  
• Offering various health, safety and welfare training initiatives to sub-contracted companies free-of-charge
  
  
• Providing on-site medical services at many of its construction sites, where in addition to emergency care, fully qualified nursing teams are available to provide planned 'well-person clinics' with the aim of maintaining a healthy workforce and promoting opportunities to enhance everyone's general health and wellbeing
  
  
• Providing the same clinics to all sub-contracted persons at site free-of-charge
  
  
• Successfully gaining recognised industry awards to further support the above, e.g. a 2012 RoSPA annual Occupational Health and Safety Silver Award that has been recently awarded to Chorus Group
