In November 2006, The Chorus Group implemented a policy of random drug and alcohol testing across each business. The decision to implement this policy reflects our desire to send everyone who works with us, employees, and contractors home safely at the end of each day. Through the implementation of our IIF programme and staff feedback and comments, it indicated that drugs and alcohol were a major concern in the workplace and should be removed. We know that companies testing for drugs have seen a 51% reduction in industry accident rates within two years of implementing a drug testing program. Drugs and Alcohol do not have a positive relationship to high risk construction activity, and a culture which condones drugs or alcohol in the work place does not reflect a safe culture. This policy of random and with cause testing has been put in place across the group to protect any individual working on behalf of the Byrne Group, from the risks associated with the effects of drugs or alcohol use whilst working in our businesses.
